MasterFormat is a standard for organizing specifications and other written information for commercial and institutional building projects in the U.S. and Canada. A fireresistance rating typically means the duration for which a passive fire protection system can withstand a standard fire resistance test. This can be quantified simply as a measure of time, or it may entail a host of other criteria, involving other evidence of functionality or fitness for purpose. According to the U.S. Department of Housing and Urban Development (HUD), the FHA requires that the properties financed with its loan product meet the following minimum standards: Safety: The home should protect the health and safety of the occupants,  Security: The home should protect the security of the property (as explained in the previous section), Soundness: The property should not have physical deficiencies or conditions affecting its structural integrit
